Turn-Key Mobile and Fixed Communication Systems
L-3 GCS SPG takes advantage of years of experience from the mechanical, electrical, and network engineers within the group to design, integrate, and deliver a complete end-to-end communications solution by integrating commercial-off-the-shelf or custom components. Utilizing in-house, readily available VSAT products, technology, and expertise allows the opportunity to integrate cost saving, large bandwidth bearer services into our complete system solutions. Many of our engineers have field experience which provides the ability to truly understand the needs of the operators, while simultaneously evaluating industry trends and developing technologies and thereby incorporating this knowledge while developing solutions to meet the customer’s needs. We maintain a fluid engineering and integration process through regular design reviews which allows quick, decisive reactions to our customer’s dynamic redesign requirements.
Cradle-to-Grave Life Cycle Communication System Support
L-3 GCS SPG offers complete systems engineering support from the initial conception and design, through decommissioning. This includes not only delivering innovative turn-key solutions, but also upgrading, refurbishing, and retrofitting fielded communication systems to meet evolving and projected operational needs. Our engineers and technicians appreciate that this may require performing maintenance and installation activities at remote locations at the discretion of the customer. L3/GCS SPG is a total package solutions provider.
Full Scope Program Management
L-3 GCS SPG maintains an innate ability for detailed analysis of progressive system requirements analysis when issuing a rapid response to requests for proposals, information, and price estimates. A readiness to interface directly with customers throughout the design and execution phases ensure that they stay informed and satisfied that program goals are aligned with their objectives and requirements. Coupled with experience executing programs within the processes governing project scheduling, finance accounting, reporting requirements, and manpower utilization leads to a total program management philosophy.
Industry Certified Data and Telephony Network Design Engineers
Certified, professional network engineers are integral in the development of data and telephony networks ranging from small man-portable and tactical networks, to larger vehicle-based networks, up to even larger building and campus-wide networks involving facilities cable plant (such as CAT6, fiber optic, prime power, and CATV installations). L-3 GCS SPG leverages years of practical experience to integrate network equipment into rugged solutions designed to protect against harsh environments indicative of real-world scenarios (i.e. shock, vibration, temperature extremes, radio frequency interference, electromagnetic interference).
State-of-the-Art Design and Fabrication Tools
L-3 GCS SPG has extensive experience designing electronics to meet the rigorous environment encountered in the military tactical environment. L3/GCS products have earned an outstanding reputation with the US military for their quality and robustness. The engineering staff has demonstrated capability in the design of tactical communication products that meet the stresses encountered in random vibration, shock, temperature, humidity, and as outlined in MIL-STD-810 and other government specifications. Using 3D solid modeling tools, GCS’s engineering staff can design and analyze during the development phase of the project which eliminates the lengthy and costly design, prototype, test, and redesign process.

Accredited Integration Facility, Secure Work Areas, and Cleared Personnel
L-3 GCS SPG maintains a fully accredited secure integration facility along with other secure working areas, staffed by cleared personnel. Being fully aware of the on-going need to integrate information and communication security capabilities and equipment into today’s networks and communication systems, L-3 GCS SPG has proactively invested in the resources and experienced team members necessary to deliver this requirement to a wide range of customers.
Development of Manuals, Training, and Documentation
The competent team of engineers and technicians within L-3 GCS SPG are thoroughly integrated in the process required to provide comprehensive system and maintenance manuals, training, and documentation for new or currently fielded systems. This helps ensure the end users and system operators/ maintainers are taught and trained by the subject-matter-experts. We fully understand that this may also include updating existing documents, schematics, manuals, or training as legacy systems are retrofitted with state-of-the-art technology.
Military Aircraft Transport Certification Experience
L-3 GCS SPG has established and fostered an on-going, long term relationship with the proper military liaison office to ensure that the certification requirements for military aircraft transport are fully understood and fulfilled. Through past experience, L-3 GCS understands and facilitates the entire process. Aircraft certification begins during the initial design and concept phase, continues through production and integration, to final certification, and must be revisited with system modification, refurbishment, or modernization.
Inter-Division Working Relationships
Due to the relationships across different divisions within L-3 Communications, L3/GCS SPG is privileged to have a seamless working relationship with adjacent L-3 divisions and groups (such as L-3 Wolf Coach/Essco) which assists us in providing world-class engineering, manufacturing, and follow-on support to our customers
